Dear frostfire,

Thank you for your respect for our school.

I think this school has very good institutions though it has not known very well by many international students.

When I come to school, I always come to the library because I have no class yet and I can update my blog. I like library. When I was a student of Osaka University, I always went to the library, too.

The library of UWM is not so different from that of Osaka University, I think. Regrettably, it seems to have no textbook that we need in the classes. In the library of Osaka University, there are the textbooks that we require in the classes, so we can use them and don't have to buy them. We can save money and it is a good point, I think.

It is the difference of culture between the US and Japan, isn't it? I'm not sure.

Dear Taro,

This time you introduce both libraries in UWM and Osaka University (OU). Well, I think the one of OU is much like the one in PKU, that is, textbooks needed are available. But there is still difference in PKU, for the number of those textbooks is so limited (often one of two for each type), that students can only read them in the libraby. As a result, the cost of textbooks every year for a student is considerable. In spite of limited "supply" of textbook, the library has a large number of other books. Though many of them are very old (I remember that one of your hobby is collecting old books, right?), they are valuable for students to consult, especially for those researching history and other social sciences. OU is also an old university, and it must have lots of old books, I guess.

Uh, as you mention the difference of culture between the US and Japan, I don't have many ideas. From the photos you show in this blog, I can only get the impression that the place is big, with small population, which is quite different from China and Japan (I guess). It must be tranquil on the streets for the matters there are few people walking around. However, this situation is nearly impossible to see in cities of China, and from the TV plays Tokyo and other big cities in Japan also give me a crowded impression (is it ture?).

Dear FrostFire,

Thank you for your comment.
I am honored to hear you say that the library of OU is much like the one in PKU.

It is inconvenient for the students of PKU to only read textbooks in the libraby, isn't it? As you said, the cost of textbooks for the students here is also considerable.

Yes,I like collecting old books. But I have no time to do it recently. Yes, OU also has a lot of old books. But few students read them because now most of researchers don't read books but research papers.

The photos in my blog show few people. There are two reasons for that. One is that this is really big place with small population. Two is on my blog policy. You can see my blog policy at the front of my blog.

I do not put the faces of some particular persons in my blog without their permission.

Of course our classes have started. So on the streets near the school there are many students walking around.
