How To Use MATLAB For Economics

Recently I've wanted to use Matlab for studying economics. What and how should I begin to run it?

Hi, Taro!
As far as I know, MATLAB is not a free software (see mathworks.com). But I think you can find it on the PC´s at your university.

Hi, tatiana!!

How are you? And thank you very much for your advice. I try to use matlab from now on if I have time to study it. So, this blog will have some topics on matlab. If you know about it, please feel free to comment on it.

By the way, you asked me about static optimization before, didn't you? Was my explanation OK?

Optimization problem is not easy for me to understand. If you have found critical problems on my comment on math for economics, please let me know, thank you.

Anyway please take care of yourself because it is getting colder and colder as days go by.

Hi, Taro!
It is very very nice of you to take care of me. Thank you. I must confess that the winter in the Middle Europe is not very hard for me. I have been living in Germany for five years, but I was born and used to live all my life in Russia, in the northern city Saint-Petersburg. Last winter I visited my parents there. There was a frost of -15 or -20°C. It´s cool!

To optimization problem. I am very interested in the math. methods and models, especially in PC-applications. I would be very glad to discuss some topics, but only in a few weeks. Nowadays I must study very hard, because I have my exams in december. Sorry, I can not write too much now.

Best wishes.
Tatiana.

Hi, tatiana!!

Thank you for your nice reply. Good luck for your exams. Exam is always hard for us to pass.

I will also have final exams and try to do them hard.

It is not easy to master this software, as this software is really powerful! It is a main course for a friend of mine majoring in software engineering, and he informs me of lots of useful applications in econometrics. Hmm...

Dear FrostFire,

Exactly!! I try to do it. After the end of the fall semester, I use this softwear. I am not familiar with chemistry, but you might use such softwears as matlab and mathematica when you need some simulation.

Anyway, if you have any idea on this softwear, please let me know it. Thank you.
