North Korea Fights with North Korea

North Korea launched 7 missiles in the morning on 4th July, Japan standard time. In Japan, there are many conjectures about the launch, why did North Korea do such an unthinkable thing?

We got to know that North Korea is under the war and wondered what it is fighting with now. What are the North Korean people who say they are proud of being in North Korea actually thinking about the present situations of their country? I can't imagine what they are now considering in their everyday lives.

Comparing North Korea with Japan, it becomes clearer that Japan is much wealthier than North Korea materially. It is obvious that the military politics is ridiculous. We can find that the mechanism of market economy works much better than that of comunist economy. The difficulties of North Korea tell us that peace is great and war is not.

No military makes us wealthy. In the historical perspective, not joining any war has made Japan the second biggist economy in the world. No military resulted in the economic prosperity we are now enjoying in Japan.

This is not a coincidence but a strongly political intention. The policy of having to do with no military has been pursued by the LDP (the Liberal Democratic Party) since the defeat against the U.S. Such a way of post-war internal policy is, what is called, "Yoshida doctrine" , which was named from Shigeru Yoshida, the post-war prominent prime minister, and led Japan not to have its own arms. (Some people may say the Self Defence is its arms. However, I think it is prohibited from fighting with the other foreign country. It cannot use its arms even for emergency such as a sudden attack by the other country.)

However, the Korea War(1950-53) triggered Japan to recover from the devastated land due to the air raid by B-29. It demanded for the fiber goods from Japan. Since then, Japan could accomplish a splendidly high rate of economic growth. The heavy industries prospered and then supplied the Japanese people with a great deal of consumer goods such as cars, air conditioners and fridges.

Japan has not provided the world with munitions. Certainly, some companies just like Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, LTD are manufacturing weapons such as battleships and tanks, but such military factories are not the main factor to make the modern Japanese economy prosper. Producing a lot of consumer goods is thought to be the prime reason for the economic development.

The people in the countries ruled by the militaly-leaning government are always poor. To the contrary, the people in the democratic regime are generally free from poverty. As is quoted from an old Samuelson's economics textbook, the "butter or gun" tale can tell us the reason. North Korea has been in the war since the beginning of the Korea War. On the other hand, Japan ended the war more than 60 years ago, and now has been in the peace and prosperity. North Korea spends more resources(time, money and energy) on the gun(weapons), whereas Japan more on the butter(consumer goods). It is not because of the economic sanctions toward North Korea but the policy of extremely high priority on military.

Here is the first question; who is North Korea fighting with? The Republic of Korea? The U.S.? Or Japan? None of them. North Korea is fighting with itself. Its real enemy is the poverty and anxiety caused by the military-leaning policy.
