Cold Turkey

Cold Turkey.

I first met this word in the article on Paul Volcker's interest rate hike. Now Turkey raised the interest rate to avoid the high inflation. 

While Volcker's hike was so quick that the unemployment rate was not even higher than had been expected, Turkey's unemployment rate has already been 9% or 10% high. 

Can Turkey exploit the Volcker's legacy? Can the Turkey's and the other Euro economies get damaged? Can this hike lead to turmoil? It doesn't sound good to me..

この言葉に出会ったのは、ポール・ボルカ―の利上げに関する記事であった。今、ターキー（トルコ）はインフレ退治のため利上げを行った。

ボルカ－氏の利上げはとても迅速だったので、期待されたほど失業率は高くならなかったが、トルコの失業率はすでに９％－１０％台である。

トルコはボルカ－氏の偉業を成し遂げられるか。トルコ経済とそのほかユーロ経済はダメージを受けないか。この利上げが混乱を招かないか。いいニュースだとは思わない。
